Embroidery Workshop

  • Wallace and Sewell 24 Lloyd Baker Street WC1X9AZ United Kingdom (map)

We are delighted to announce Wallace Sewell is once again teaming up with Melanie Bowles from Stitch-School, to bring you an evening workshop in our Clerkenwell studio! 10th & 24th September.

Enjoy an evening exploring colour and embroidery in the wonderful surroundings of the Wallace and Sewell shop. Learn a range of essential and decorative embroidery stitches for embellishing and mending, expanding your knowledge of needlework stitches and building a personal language with stitch. The evening centres around conversation and relationship we have with textiles and our clothes.

The first session you will be introduced to the ’50 Stitch Embroidery Sampler’ and begin your journey of discovering embroidery stitches, practising on a linen sampler which you can continue in your own time between sessions. The second session you will continue to work on a finished sampler with the focus on colour and stitch, ready to display and refer to. By the end of both sessions you will have gained confidence to use embroidery as a creative and mindful activity to make, apply, mend, gift or just enjoy!

All materials and threads provided, including some additional Wallace Sewell wool off-cut offs.

Run by Melanie Bowles founder of Stitch-School who brings together communities through the art of stitching. She is the author of ‘50 Embroidery Stitches’ published in May.

Stitch-School was founded in 2017 to provide professional and inspirational guidance to reconnect the benefits of embroidery through embroidery kits, workshops and community events. Stitch-School runs regular workshops teaching the skills of embroidery and repair in friendly, supportive groups.
